Meet Dr Elizabeth Howl

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health & Care Professional Council and the British Psychological Society. I have over 10 years experience working in the National Health Service and have developed expertise working with adults, couples, and families struggling with chronic health conditions, such as acquired brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and progressive degenerative conditions.

I can help you consider what you would like your life to be about, recognise what is getting in the way of having that life, and help you to develop skills and strategies to manage your emotions so that you can move towards the life you want.

When a health condition comes into your life it affects not only the person with the condition but also their partner and family. I can help support you and those important people in your life.

My approach also works well for those experiencing stress, low self-esteem, low mood, anxiety, and trauma, or significant life changes, such as retirement or career change.

What to Expect

How to start....

Free 15 Minute Telephone Consultation

Start by booking an initial consultation. This appointment will allow you time to discuss the reasons you are considering coming to therapy and discuss the best type of therapy for you.

Together we can decide if the type of therapy I provide is the best fit for you. If we think a different type of therapy would be more helpful to you, I can provide recommendations on how to access that support.

What next....

Psychological Assessment

Once we have decided that I am the best fit to support you, we can schedule another appointment. This appointment will be 60 minutes and can be online or in-person (clinic room or home visit). We will discuss more about the difficulties you are experiencing and your past history, including family, physical and mental health.

At the end of this appointment we will consider if another assessment appointment is needed, to fully understand your difficulties, or if we can commence psychological therapy.
